Ryan’s Testimony
I don't know what many people think in moments they may perceive as final. But for me, my mind was like a continuous and uninterrupted reel of vivid movie trailers of my life and the people in it—a rush of events, voices, and experiences in no specific order.
I always knew that cancer transformed me, but I never envisioned how what would happen after cancer would change me.
It can be challenging getting through falling unconscious, waking up to a nurse reviving you, or wondering if you will make it through the night—in a life already riddled with impossibilities, which have been providentially replaced with opportunities.
To some, it may sound like just one more traumatic story, but trauma is only a part of it. From these events come seemingly infinite emotions, new perspectives, and inescapable wisdom.
Out of these previous struggles, especially this last one that began in November of last year, I don't want one single moment to be wasted. I want those experiences to continue igniting my spirit.
Sometimes I ask myself, how could it take this many close calls to wake up enduringly to the obvious—we are fragile, temporary, and powerless.
From these prior months, there's one exceptional transformation that transpired, I've accepted my deficiencies, and renewed my faith in the One who is neither fragile, temporary, or powerless.

Ryan and I shared many conversations about the Lord….God blessed him with time for music throughout his life-long struggles with health issues and I firmly believe, through God's inspiration, these songs came….His music will live on….I know that I am a better person having known Ryan and am truly blessed that I was able to share in his creative world.
“Survivors Survive” was released on November 30, 2011 and used in Relay for Life events around the world. Additionally, this song was re-leased on World Cancer Day, February 4, 2015, touching survivors across the globe.
